After that the area of Nong Thale sub-district, Amphoe Mueang Krabi, Krabi province which is the area of the Royal Thai Navy and the Royal Palace area has been excluded from this national park and left only 387.90 sq.km.

Geography

Consists of the land area on the coast of the island such as Ao Nammao mountain area, Ao Nang-Hang Nak forest and other islands. The geological form of this area is the high mountain laid along the northwest-southeast direction. Coast area is the high mountain while the western side has deeper slope than the eastern side. Geological form of sea coast area and islands in Andaman sea would be affected by the line of earth layer movement so called "Indosenia Teotonic Movement". At the area of mangrove forest of Hang Nak mountain you would find the Klom mountain canal on the coast rim which get the drained water from a big pond, so called "Nong Thale" (Sea Pond) and originates the mangrove forest and low plain area of the Samed forest in the area of national park office namely "Khlong Haeng" (Noppharat Thara Beach).

Ban Tai Beach

Ban Tai is found on the south western coast of Koh Phangan facing Koh Samui with tremendous sunsets - amongst the best on the island. Ban Tai is a haven for sun worshipers as the long white sandy beaches provide excellent tanning in a splendid setting.
Just behind Ban Tai runs the Thongsala - Haad Rin road which offers bar, restaurants and Karaoke bars within a few minutes’ walk. There are also plenty of bars on the beach front scattered across the beach which runs for miles and so there is no huge noise from any one particular location.
The exception to this is the Half moon party which allows this massive party to move from Haad Rin to Ban Tai.

Haad Chao Phao Beach

Haad Chao Phao is a white sandy beach that stretches for half a kilometer on the west coast of Koh Phangan. The bay by any standards is underdeveloped which allows visitors that wonderful "desert island feel". The swimming here is excellent and the coral reef that stretches along the coast here from Haad Son to Sri Thanu is just offshore and within easy reach for most swimmers.
Just above Haad Chao Phao there are some excellent viewpoints that offer a panoramic of the west coast.
Haad Chao Phao is one of the lesser known beaches on Koh Phangan offering beauty and relaxation.

Thonglang Bay

Thonglang Bay is perhaps the last bay to be discovered on Koh Phangan. There are just four developments covering the entire bay and most of these are private villas
The bay at low tide is rugged and has character and charm. At high tide the bay offers excellent swimming.
Positioned within a few minutes’ drive of Mae Haed, Haad Salad and Chalok Lam - itself a very laid back fishing village and relaxed tourist destination. Thonglang is a wonderful escape.

Sri Thanu Bay

Sri Thanu Bay is on the western coast of Koh Phangan - a sheltered volcanic outcrop that pushes out into the coral reef that runs from Haad Yao into Sri Thanu.

Sri Thanu Bay is a very laid back place that has traditional Thai style bungalows on the shores of the area. The resorts are integrated into the hillsides that rise quickly from the ocean allowing great views from each veranda that overlooks the bay
Swimming is easy and the reef is almost on the shore allowing the more inexperienced to enjoy the marine world. Sri Thanu is just 10 minutes from Thonsala by taxi allowing easy shopping and banking.

Mae Haad Beach

Mae Haad beach is a well visited beach offering excellent swimming and diving. Most of the boat tours stop here and all the diving schools bring their customers here to enjoy diving onto the coral reef lay that lies just offshore.

There is an elephant trekking camp on the ring road just above the beach which takes clients through the jungle and onto the view point overlooking Mae Haad bay. Koh Ma is a small island just a few hundred meters offshore from Mae Haad beach. At low tide the two land masses are connected through a sand bar and it is easy to walk across to the small island.

Mae Haad is a very beautiful spot and one of the places that must be visited during any stay on Koh Phangan.

Haad Yao Beach

Haad Yao in Thai is called long beach - it is nearly one kilometer in length making it one of the largest beaches and bays on the island - and one of the most beautiful and popular. There is plenty to do here from beach activities through to bars and restaurants that pop up across the bay and on the road into Haad Yao.
Haad Yao is also a magnet for divers and the diving schools teach courses and offer PADI qualifications. There are other places on Koh Phangan such as Chalok Lam that also offer diving training. There is a reef handily placed just offshore from Haad Yao and this offers an excellent training ground. The same reef is a perfect swimming ground for snorkelers to partake in the undersea world adventure.
Haad Yao is on the west coast of Koh phangan with the beaches and bays of Haad Son, Haad Chao Phao & Sri Thanu all within easy reach. Thongsala the main port and is just ten minutes by taxi.

Haad Salad Beach

Haad Salad beach is a very family orientated beach on the west coast of Koh Phangan between Haad Yao and Mae Haad. Over the last four years the beach has developed impressively from a backpacker’s destination to a family oriented destination offering some up market accommodation. There are planty of resorts along the shoreline, each one offering restaurant or bar facilities overlooking the beach.
Through the centre of the beach is golden powdery sand and at the edges of the bay are some light rock formations that help to protect the bay in bad weather.
Haad Salad is now reached by a first class road from Haad Yao allowing all of the beaches on the western tip to be reached within a few minutes’ drive. Long tail boats line the shore and these can be hired for island trips or snorkeling in the next bay at Koh Ma.

Haad Rin Beach

Haad Rin is the home of the world famous Full Moon party - an extravaganza that attracts 30,000 revelers each month to rave, dance and boogie to their hearts content.
It is also the scene of incredible beauty as the beach and bay span out with white sand and sparkling water.

Haad Rin is also famous as the place where Leonardo Di Caprio did not make the Hollywood film "The Beach". You can buy souvenir t-shirts in Haad Rin with "Leonardo was not here" stamped on the front.

Haad Rin is the night entertainment centre of Koh Phangan with bars and restaurants all over the peninsula. Haad Rin is usually full most of the year and so even when accommodation is not available tourists stay elsewhere and are taxied in for full moon and the general revellry.

Haad Son Beach

Haad Son Bay is small yet wonderful, located on the west coast of Koh Phangan. It is protected by large granite formations that cut the beach off from the next bays and allow total privacy. Only half of the beach has been developed allowing visitors space to relax and enjoy.
Just offshore there is a coral reef and so it is very easy to snorkel and observe the abundant sea life that is present on the reef. Nearby at Haad Yao there are diving schools that can teach courses and offer PADI qualifications. The reef is handily placed for the schools and there are also day trips to other dive sites around Koh Phangan.
Haad Yao beach is just next door - just a few minutes walk and so guests at Haad Son can also take advantage of what is one of the longest beaches on Koh Phangan to add variety in beach time destinations.
Haad Son is just ten minutes from Thongsala - the main port which means that shopping trips or restaurant and bar hopping are very easy to undertake.

Chalok Lam Bay

Chalok Lam Bay is one of the more peaceful bays on Koh Phangan - famous for its stunning location with the awesome mountains surrounding the bay and creating drama and effect. The beach here is almost three kilomtres in length with bunaglows set at either end of the bay and the village in the centre. Nature rules in Chalok Lam and each bungalow development are spacious with plenty of surrounding flora and fauna.

At night the village offers bars and restaurants - as a fishing village the seafood is fresh and very well cooked. The excellent road connections to Chalok Lam allow swift passage to the nearby beaches of Mae Haed, Haad Salaat and many others along the coast. Chalok Lam is a place to relax and feel good.
On the outskirts of the village there are two temples - one is chinese and offers fantastic views over the mountains and valley, the other is a Thai Buddhist temple and is a training center for local and mainland Thais. There is another temple within Chalok Lam village itself which tends to be the focal point of village life and tradition.
